Hay Festival 2014 Event: Picture Book Panel (Part 3)

Jpeg
Picture Books are very magical indeed. I will soon blog about how they magically, yes MAGICALLY came into my life in a later post. Obviously I love picture books so could not resist this event. And Rachel was most inspiring because she literally has her own card and gift EMPIRE plus she like randomly decided to work as an air stewardess (among many other ventures) which is sooooo the type of thing I would do except I’m not good with flying! Oh yes and Rachel was 5 months pregnant at the time and has since had her beautiful daughter!

So the Super-Awesome-Picture-Book-Gang is Chris Haughton on the left below, Oliver Jeffers centre and the sunny & gorgeous Rachel Bright! 😀 You need to read “Oh no! George” by Haughton because you need more colour in your life and you must purchase “This moose belongs to me” by Jeffers because it is a gorgeous picture book and you must read all the “Love Monster” stories. I also own some of Rachel’s “The Bright Side” range of gifts and cards. A post on that coming shortly!
JpegOk so seconds before I got a pic with the Super-Awesome-Picture-Book-Gang my hair was on point. Like PERFECT. On Fleek as North West would say.

Then somehow my hair turns into this…Like WTF? Just not on point, just seconds ago it was like Rachel’s with a side parting and then this raven cascade sans side-parting just flops down upon my scalp from outta nowhere! Just not a good look but my boobs look EPIC so can’t complain 😛

JpegApologies if you were looking for a more in depth discussion of the points raised at the panel. I have simply forgotten-it was a year ago! Notably the trauma of my hair not on fleek took precedent in the recollection of this event.

xoxo Catherine 😀

Bohemian Chic inspired ensemble. #OOTD

Hey guys!

So here is my outfit of the day/#OOTD. It is very loosely inspired by Kourtney Kardashian’s neutral tones as seen on Kourtney & Kim Take NYC. I loved her Gucci Fedora so much that I bought a similar one.                  See below.

kkJpegThis dusty brown linen jacket is from Topshop-I have had it since I was 14! Back then it was £40. All the buttons and pockets are still functional-ha! Underneath is a shirt by Krizia Jeans in a neutral stripe of navy, light brown and subtle red. The shirt was from a thrift store but would usually retail at £60+.
JpegThis gorgeous cotton hand-woven tote bag gives the look an edge and thankfully it is fairtrade. Yay! It was produced all the way in Nepal. I purchased the tote online however this has sold out on http://shop.chrishaughton.com/ 😦 Check his site out anyway because he is an awesome talent! He is an illustrator and makes picture books JpegMy Fedora was from Peacocks and was only £8. I got this a long while back. I try my best not to buy clothing from such stores because cheap priced items usually mean poor conditions for the workers making the commodity.Jpeg

The awesome paisley trousers were on sale at Vera Moda at £16! The boots are by Espirit, £40.

So I hoped you liked this post on what I wear. Leave a comment below if you want to see more posts on my style and where I shop.

The World’s Most Glamorous Bohemian: Edwige Fenech

ED12

Edwige Fenech is an actress who was most popular back in the 70’s garnering commercial success in “commedia sexy all’italiana” films. This genre of film is essentially a “sex comedy Italian style” with a plethora of beautiful women, many of whom all too happy to take their tops off. On top of that salacious delight are classic slapstick moments and lot’s of well-off characters engaging in all kinds of silliness! “The sins of Madame Bovary” (1969) is by far my favorite film of hers. It’s plot is more serious and true to life and I relate to Fenech’s character; Emma Bovary’s dreams of a better life filled with more beauty and more passion. Though my morals are more stringent than Bovary’s! It’s indulgent and at times slow paced, do note this film like many of her others is in Italian.

Edwige is absolutely stunning in this film (and all her others!) She is almost too glamorous to gaze at. But view it and admire it all you want as it is a film adaptation of influential French writer Gustave Flaubert’s Realist Novel: “Madame Bovary.” Don’t let Edwige’s beauty and willingness to disrobe fool you into categorizing her as cinematic eye candy. Edwige Fenech is as compelling and credible an actress as she is comely. A triple threat by today’s standards.

ED BOHO

This Mediterranean Beauty (her father is  Maltese) gloriously embodies the ultimate Bohemian chic with printed scarves on her head, a nonchalant penchant for showing her body and a wild career as an actress baring her soul and breasts. Best of all she lived through the 60’s and 70’s and was at the peak of her youth and beauty during those audacious decades.

ED8

I say kudos to Edwige’s brazen roles as seductress, kudos to her softcore porn scenes and merci beaucoup Fenech for your sensual presence on film.
